A Few Facts About Kissing

The first romantic kiss on screen was in American silent films in 1896, beginning with the film “The Kiss”. It caused quite an uproar – unbelievable!


On 14 February 2013, the record for the longest kiss was recorded. It was in Bangkok Thailand and a couple held a kiss for 58 hours, 35 minutes and 58 seconds.


 

A long public kiss by a Roman was meant as an engagement announcement.


 

Women will often use the frequency of kissing to determine if a man is suitable for a short-term relationships and for judging the potential of a long-term relationship. Men use kissing, and more frequently in short-term relationships, to increase the chances of sex.


 

Passionate kissing can involve as many as 23 to 34 facial muscles and 112 postural muscles.


 

Lips are over 100 times more sensitive than the tips of the fingers. Not even the genitals have that much sensitivity


A quick romantic kiss will burn on average 2-3 calories. Passionate kisses will burn 5 or more calories, depending on the duration, explosiveness and intimacy of the kiss.


 

The term “French kiss” came into the English language around 1923. It started as a slur in the French culture which was thought to be overly concerned with sex. Oddly, the Friend do not term it a “French Kiss” – it is called a tongue kiss or soul kiss. They believe that the ultimate sensual kiss (done properly) is as if two souls are joining.


 

Men, more than women, use kissing in an attempt to end fights. Gee – you think!!!


 

Several websites have reported that men who kissed their wives every morning live 5 years longer. They also claim that the men make more money than men who fail to do this common morning ritual – Now that is interesting and I must find the research data for this.


 

During kissing, couples exchange an average of 9 mL of water, 0.7 mg of protein, 0.18 mg of organic compounds, 0.71 mg of different fats, and 0.45 mg of sodium chloride.


 

Kissing can provide information about an individuals health. The taste and the smell of an individual’s mouth can signal health issues.


 

One website reported that the kissing exercise  helps prevent facial wrinkles!!


 

 

 

The average person spends about 20,000 minutes of his or her life kissing. That seems lime a large number but probably and sadly, is not big enough.


 

The mouth is full of bacteria. When two people kiss, they exchange between 10 million and 1 billion bacteria. A common well known statistic – who cares, kissing is well worth it!


 

Men are more likely to initiate kissing before sex. Women are more likely to initiate kissing after sex.


 

Men prefer open-mouth kissing with tongue contact when kissing short-term partners to increase the probability of mating.


 

Positive features of kissing include increased levels of central nervous system endorphin’s and dopamine.
